Garden Wonderments Series 2025

Hand & Petal’s Garden Wonderments classes are events that bring new and old gardners, their friends, and anyone who loves a happy plant a chance to deepen their understanding of 3-5 the greater region’s indigenous plants; examine the plants up close; explore the role of these plants in the broader ecology; and settle into the ways the plants wake, inspire and soothe our souls. The Wonderments are perfect for any one, any time, for any occassion. but do let us know if you are coming with someone special or if you are celebrating. All Wonderers leave with their own plant(s) and the know-how to care for it.

Garden Wonderment: Phlox and more phlox April 26,2025 3:30 pm - 5:00 pm

Looking for a plant with moxie? Count on your gal Phloxie! So many to choose from, so many colors! Tall ones. Short ones. The names tell us there are Moss ones (really?) and ones named for Candy. And that sweet, sweet scent. Wait….. Who is this plant for? Did you know that it’s not just us gardeners who love this garden design darling. So do deer, rabbits and other garden munchers. Does planting it in abundance ensure you get to enjoy it? And what plants play well with the various phloxes? Pick your April date and you’ll take home the best phlox for your yard.

Beardstongue. It’ may be a strange name, but this is a hard working plant. With more than 280 species indigenous North America, there is a penstemon for a vareity of conditions. However, what species is right for your landscape? Is the penstemon at the nursery a good one for your garden? And is it a long-lived perennial? Or do you need to be planting new penstemon every few years? Come join us in June and get your plant knowledge fix and take home specimens of this plant for your garden.
